Tiffany: Vision and Virtuosity

Is it a Tiffany brand exhibition actually? Yes.

Is it trying to boost sales? Well, really hard to say. If you jump the section of diamond laboratory like me, you will pretty much feel that it is truly an amazing exhibition, the kind of exhibition which can be sold as much as 30 quids per ticket in V&A… And this exhibition is completely FREE!

Booking a free slot is straightforward, you will need to download the Tiffany app. In the exhibition ticket page, you can find which slots are still available by dates. You may notice many days are fully booked, so do it now if you are interested and come back later to read on.

Upon arrival, there will be a queue expected outside of Saatchi gallery but waiting time should not be too long. After bag checks, you will be guided into the hallway.

The official introduction reads:

The exhibition takes visitors on a journey through everything from archival high jewellery designs, Tiffany’s famed window displays and its recently acquired Empire Diamond of over 80 carats to important relics of popular culture such as the original script from Breakfast at Tiffany’s.

The famed window displays are breathtaking with so many details for each piece.

It feels a little embarrassing if you stay too long in one place as people in a slow moving row will have to stop and wait. After the window display section, you will walk through another display room and climb the stairs to upper floors for more sections, enjoy the lighting installation on the way up!

You will find the best one of all 7 sections now if you are a big fan of Audrey Hepburn. The Tiffany shopfront in the movie “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” is replicated and looks so real. The steel bench set, the yellow taxi and Fifth Avenue backdrop, all contribute to the atmosphere of excitement.

Then you will enter the highlight of the exhibition – a Tiffany blue forest. The most precious diamond rings are displayed in doughnut shaped glass cabinets, or one may argue the shape is more like ancient Chinese coin. How beautiful, how smart!

There are some drawing e-pads on the wall. You can write a message or best wishes, and click “send”. Voila. The magic happens when you believe.

I should probably finish my review here and leave you to explore the remaining sections by yourselves.

And I do agree with the official statement:

It is a celebration of Tiffany’s authority as the purveyor of the world’s finest diamonds and a showcase of how two core values—vision and virtuosity—have guided the House for 185 years.
